Tisci's Muse--Mariacarla Boscono

She is an Italian Model.
She helped Tisci to hold the first show and Tisci consider her as a muse.Nearly every Givenchy fashion show u can see her walking along the stage.SHe inspired Tisci in his design journey.

Interview of Riccardo Tisci

http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/02/28/the-q-a-riccardo-tisci/

I found there is one point quite interesting. He said'They see the garment and they feel an emotion. To me, fashion is more and more about that. It’s not about shocking. It’s about what you want to wear.'His design concept is the same as Hubert de Givenchy.!!!
Unlike John Galliano,he never made any dramatic outfits.Unlike Alexander McQueen,he never made any clothing just to express his imagination and aggressiveness.Yet, he works like what Hubert de Givenchy did, make women beautiful and happy, let them have something that they really want to wear. His success in Givenchy can be explained by the statement he made.

The current designer---Riccardo Tisci

Riccardo Tisci (b. 1974 or 1975) is an Italian fashion designer. He graduated from London's Central Saint Martins Academy, and in 2005 was named creative director for Givenchy womenswear, haute couture and in May 2008 he was named as menswear and accessories designer of the Givenchy men's division.
His apparent fascination with Gothic touches (dark, languid dresses on sickly models for fall couture) and space-age minimalism (one ready-to-wear show featured white-clad models drifting aimlessly around a sterile-white sphere) have drawn new attention to the Givenchy brand. Reviews and output so far have been mixed and inconsistent, but many, including influential fashion critics (such as Cathy Horyn of the New York Times and Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune) have homed in on Tisci's conceptual leanings, as well as his future potential for revitalizing the Givenchy brand and infusing it with his precision and imagination
(information from wikipedia)

Beside the above information, there are 2 points that I want to mention.
First, he was raised in an extreme catholic family, I think his design was affected by the ealy day of life in church or about medieval style, such as the glass picturing jesus life and the gothic building syle of the church and cathedral. It suggests why he is so in favour of the gothic style and romanticism.

Second, when he was born, his father died and his mothers needed to raise 9 children including 8 girls and him. This provided a chance to him to observe the nature or the beauty inside women and the tough side of a woman. Therefore he is capable in giving different image of a woman, like the tough and glam look in 2008 fall ready to waer and bloody but sexy look fall ready to wear in 2006.

Designer's history affects the use of colour mainly.Black, not only is the symbol of elegance, but also about something dark, something like gothic, something powerful.Thats why black is always the main colour of Givenchy designs.

Givenchy Ad for perfume

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCEdsuxDMps

Here is a link about Givenchy perfume named 'very irresistable'.

In the video u can see that the scenario is based on the 50s'-60s' of Europe, it show us a very beautiful moment of the old society by using simple monotone colour to raise our imagination..Umm 50s'? wasn't the time that Hubert de Givenchy found the fashion house ? Superfically, it is just selling a product about past glamour, however it helps us to recall the founder and his design element:elegant and irresistable.

Another ad of Givenchy perfume(Angel or Demon)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPTswZP-Avc

Here is the ad of Givenchy perfume(Angel or Demon).
In this ad, all the people are wearing black except the model walking dresses in white. But the black mask make up on her face truly give me the sense of sexyness rather than using the mask.
White is another colour used by Givenchy except black, the reason is quite simple, they try to use to use contrasting principle to make people focuing on the ad and outfits.

Master and friend

Unlike Audery Hepburn, this friends did not wear any clothing made by Hubert de Givenchy, instead he taught him about the rule of design and life, and he is Cristobal Balenciga, the famous Spanish-born couturier.

Rather than calling Balenciga as a master,he would likey to call him a spiritual brother.'Never work against the fabric' was the design rule that he tuahgt Givenchy. This helped him to create his timeless elegance. The classic but never be forgotten masterpiece- the little black dress was an evidence to this rule.Besides, Givenchy learned from Balenciga's simplicity and knew that lines and forms should be the most important.Sometimes they even spent hours to discuss how to construct a single sleeve. He may be one of the most important person to Givenchy's sucess in the industry.

'All these information comes from a book called 'The Givenchy Style''
